Susie Mészáros is a member of the world renowned Chilingirian String Quartet and widely in demand as teacher and chamber musician.

She studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School where she made her Wigmore Hall debut playing Duos with Yehudi Menuhin. After winning the Gold Medal at the Royal Overseas League Competition and reaching the String Finals of the BBC Young Musician of the Year she continued her studies in Salzburg with the great Hungarian violinist Sándor Végh and was also appointed Principal Violist of the Salzburg Camerata Academica.

On her return to the UK Susie pursued a solo and chamber music career, including solo performances with Arthur Grumiaux and Vladimir Spivakov, recitals for Radio 3, regular appearances with leading ensembles such as the Nash Ensemble, invited to many chamber music festivals in particular the prestigious Marlborough Summer School in Vermont and Prussia Cove’s Open Chamber Music.
As violinist Susie was Leader of Kent Opera Orchestra, the Fitzwilliam String Quartet and the Katin Trio with pianist Peter Katin.

She has been guest Principal with many orchestras including Philharmonia, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Britten Sinfonia, Manchester Camerata and London Mozart Players.

As well as her commitments at Royal Northern College of Music she is also a professor at the Royal College of Music and has taught at both the Yehudi Menuhin School and Purcell School.

“My teacher Sándor Végh knew Bartók, Kodály and Casals and studied with a pupil of Joseph Joachim so it’s a privilege to have had the great Middle European tradition passed down to me in such a direct way. One treasured memory for me was playing the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante with Arthur Grumiaux - an admirable musician and a gentleman.”

The strings are not only the foremost section in the orchestra - they also play a major role in much of today's popular music including; pop; rock; jazz and country

They are capable of producing a whole array of 'colours' that have enhanced, and continue to enrich musical scores for centuries.

A string quartet consists of 2 violins, viola and 'cello.
